My Passion Project
831 Yoga Foundation
In 2013 I had this crazy idea to teach free yoga in the parks around Madison, WI to whomever wanted to show up. With a borrowed meetup group, a couple of mats and the idea that everyone should have access to yoga, I started up Madison Outdoor Yoga. I made the classes free/donation based so that cost would never be an issue. We moved around to different parks to ensure that access to transportation would not be a barrier. And we tried to schedule classes at a time that would work for the most people.
Throughout the years I realized that much more needed to be done to allow everyone access to yoga and mindfulness. I believe that classes should be affordable, that everyone should be able to participate, and that students should be able to find teachers that shared their culture, language, and life experiences.
I have finally realized my dream of creating the 831 Yoga Foundation with the intent to further accessible yoga practices.
To make yoga and mindfulness practices available to everyone through community outreach practices and working towards creating a stronger teacher/student connection.
831 Yoga Foundation envisions a world where all communities can find connection to yoga and mindfulness practices through access to classes and encouraging a diverse teacher/student connection
